Getting Ready for Your Stay

A few quick things to bring and know before you head up to the lake. Stock up on the way in and you'll be all set.

What to bring

The essentials:
- For cabins, bring bed linens, bath and beach towels (pillows, pillowcases, and duvets are provided).

- For suites: linens and bath towels are provided (bring your own beach towels)
- Clear garbage bags (black bags aren't accepted at the local landfill)
- Toiletries

- Food, drinks, condiments, coffee & tea

For the lake & outdoors
- Sunscreen & insect repellent
- Hiking or running shoes — there are great trails nearby
- A flashlight or headlamp (handy if the power flickers)
- Your Ontario fishing licence if you plan to fish — required by law, and easy to grab online at ontario.ca before you come
- (Life jackets, canoes, kayaks, paddleboards and more are free for guests — no need to pack your own.)

Optional — Linens & Towels Package ($200, cabins): Rather not pack them? We'll set out bed sheets + bath towels in your cabin (beds aren't made up — you set them up; beach towels are still bring-your-own). Just reply to your booking email and we'll add it on.

what not to bring

- No glass on the docks, beach, or around the fire pit & hot tub — keeps everyone safe for bare feet (glassware's fine inside your cabin)
- No fireworks or weapons
- No black garbage bags — clear bags only (local landfill rule)
- Don't haul firewood from home — it can carry invasive pests. Grab bagged firewood locally instead
- No unregistered guests or pets — please register visitors at the office, and note the pet policy in your cabin
- No smoking, vaping, or cannabis indoors

GOOD TO KNOW
- Check-in: after 4:00 PM · Check-out: before 10:00 AM
- Groceries: Minden, Dorset, or Haliburton (~25–35 min) — and groceries run pricey and limited up here, so stock up before you come. Summer farmers' markets are worth a stop too.
- Gas: fill up on your way in — the nearest stations are in Minden and Haliburton, so top up before the final stretch up Hwy 35.
- Firewood: not sold at the resort — easily sourced locally along hwy 35 and 118.
- Campfires: the fire pits are yours to enjoy — just check the burn ban before lighting (algonquinhighlands.ca) and make sure it's dead out. In fire season, open burning is allowed only 7 PM–7 AM unless there's a total ban.
- LCBO & Beer Store: LCBO in Carnarvon (closest); LCBO + Beer Store in Minden & Haliburton.
- Wifi: free — and it's good · Parking: included · Cell service: good
